If anyone of you have read any of these posts, you may remember me waxing lyrical about a year ago, about how good it felt to be out on my bike, in the fresh air, catching up with friends and generally getting a load of feel good buzz from getting fit again. So here we are, 6 months of virtually no exercise and probably eating a little too much and I have gained 4kg and a nasty looking overhang in my old jeans, that I used to need a belt for. See how easy it is? I also have a sore hip again, my neck feels tight and still, I puff going up a hill pushing the push chair and really don’t have that much energy and motivation for exercise! So what does that tell you? I often hear from people just like me that the way they feel is because they are getting old. Well that may be the case, however last year when I trained for the “Ride to Conquer Cancer” I started to feel like I did when I was 35, not 49. My hip pain went, my neck felt better and I was weighing in at only 1kg heavier than I did when I was 18 years old. I was even riding with some of my old training buddies from Ironman days. We often hear from people trying to sell us this or that method that’s “proven to get results”. Diets, particular forms of exercise, or a combination of both. Well I can tell you a method that gets me fat, lazy and in pain. It’s called “sit on my Chuff and do sweet fanny A”. So really we don’t need the fancy diets, the Dr Ho pain relief, the ab machine that’s guaranteed to loose you X pounds in x weeks or your money back…..We really just need to get up, get going, find the time, quit the belly aching excuses and exercises HARD every day. Now that is guaranteed and this information is completely free! Do with it what you will :).
